This classic guitar features newly tuned, scalloped braced tops with more refined solid select grain Blackwood back and sides. The backs have been radiused to help create a greater tonal spectrum with focus on classic Maton earthy tones resulting in more bottom end response. The Necks have been upgraded to solid Blackwood timber and in keeping with the “Australian” theme, now have a Desert Acacia (Mulga) fingerboard and Bridge. Finally the Australian series now comes with the NEW Maton UV cured paint finish – a finer coat for a finer tone. A new MOP Australian Decal adorns this exciting new guitar. (Can be ordered with a Bunya Pine Top to be completely made from Australian Tone woods)

Beautiful and DependableBy: Anderson Dufty on 11 February 2016I've been fortunate to have owned a number of excellent guitars over 40 odd years of playing. Ten years ago I bought one of these lovely Maton Australians from Kosmic. It took me all of two minutes playing it and I bought it. It is one of only two guitars I've ever owned (and there's been quite a few) that I haven't had to adjust the set up or modify things to get the best out of it. It was perfect then and with good care and proper maintenance it's remained so. I use it regularly, it plays brilliantly, has a good pickup which blends beautifully with my Schertler Amp (I think these newer ones have an even better one) and it is thing of beauty in itself. Brilliant craftsmanship and flawless finish. I have a 48 year old Maton FG150 and a 40 year old Colonial; they are both still going strong and I have no doubt my Australian model will go the distance too. It is guitars like this that give Maton its great name.
